How big is our gospel? Chris Wright asks, in his chapter on God's model of redemption. (I am curious about this language of 'models'... I think there is a problem here, not sure what yet).
He goes on:
The scope of our mission must reflect the scope of God's mission, [Granted] which is turn will match the scale of God's redemptive work. [well i think I get what he is trying to say...] Where do we turn in the Bible for our understanding of redemption? Already it will be clear enough that in my view it will simply not do to turn first to the New Testament. ...
What!??

You know its quite remarkable when anyone pretends to talk about the "mission of god".
Which god?
Whose god?
What about the overwhelming majority of humans who dont subscribe to your god?
And the related implicit assumption that all of those human being are living in "darkness" and need to be "saved" or converted to the one "true" way.
Are you as a "fallen", and by self-definition, inherently godless human being, really in a position to preach to or "convert" anyone?
Also as a Calvinist Christian you believe that humans are inherently "fallen" and cannot possibly know god.
And yet to talk and write as though you know what "god's mission" is.
Are you intimately familiar with the "mind" of god that creates and explodes supernova's and entire galaxies. Or the "mind" of god that allows/causes the death of 300,000 humans in a Tsunami. And a god that creates a world in whicht billions of biological entities including human beings get slaughtered every day in one way or another. After all your "god" is supposed to create and be responsible for everything that happens---everything.
And yet presume to talk about "god's mission".
And then there is the whole theology industry which again from the "fallen" point of view, writes all this speculative towers of babel about "god" and "god's" "plan" and "mission".
