Colin Gunton (in Christ and Creation I think) would argue that this strength comes from Jesus' relation to the Holy Spirit. So the verse between baptism and temptation is that Jesus 'full of the Holy Spirit'
Yes, me old friend David Hohne who wrote his doctorate on Gunton would be quick to make the same point. It's a good one...
rather than a flight from finitude - which our science and philosophy drive toward - but an embracing of it, and it's dependence on God for every moment?
