Endnote trouble shooting

Does anyone know what you do in Endnote when you want to cite a work by a Pope?

It always comes out as II, John Paul...

Michael,

Paul II, John

Ah, yes, that works for the footnotes, but in the bibliography it cites him as

Paul II, John

and for Benedict XVI you get

XVI, Benedict.

Presumably exactly the same as you'd do for Augustine of Hippo

Now there's a phrase we don't use nearly enough.

Well if you want to footnote a pope, according to the Oxford Reference Dictionary for Papistry (3rd Ed), the correct way is thus:
Pope John Paul II, Ap. Letter Vicesimus quintus annus, 4 December 1988, n. 3: AAS 81 (1989) p. 899. (for example)
Now if you want to Quote a Pope, that's a different matter....
