Over on Andrew's site, a helpful clarification about the Turkish Martyrs. The earlier report which I posted on my blog was inaccurate as to the extent and horror of the torture.
I had missed this story in the news when it came out, but after reading the earlier email report posted here I went to check for news of this in the New York Times. There was indeed a story there; relatively substantial, although I guess it may not have been headlined (explaining how I'd missed it before).
Anyway, that entry was for the most part sober and straightforward, and much closer to the "clarification" you've linked than the initial email you posted.
