There's a point to some of the criticism of modern eulogies there, but surely the eulogy brings little or no comfort is too wholesale. It may be a flawed institution but there can be comfort from doing one's best to speak well within it: to speak truly of a loved one, since one can perform them no other service. And there can be a like comfort for the other bereaved.
Difficult to get it right, though, and demanding at such a time ...
Yes, surely they can be done with SOME comfort..
